You Are Not Alone: Macy Spangler on Finding Real Community - EP 23
Almost everyone has felt it at some point. You walk into a room and it feels like everyone has their people except you.
In this episode, Sarah and James talk with Macy Spangler about loneliness, friendship and how you actually go about finding real community. Macy grew up in Indiana and she is honest about the seasons where she felt alone and what it took to get through them.
She gets into some really practical stuff too. Why everyone needs a "third place" that is not home or school. What it looks like to be the one friend for someone nobody else notices. How she mentors younger girls. And why she cares so much about calling out the lies people start to believe about themselves when there is no one around to say otherwise.
There is also a good part about fear of failure and how much it holds people back from putting themselves out there in the first place.
The thing that stuck with us: community usually does not just show up. Someone has to reach out first and it might have to be you. That one move can change things for you and for the person on the other end of it.
If you have been feeling alone lately, or you know someone who is, give this one a listen.
